Sotogrande Anniversary: A Diamond Celebration of 60 Years of Elegance, Excellence, and Memorable Moments

We come into a new year with hope and confidence, and our new year resolutions in full swing. Additionally, as we celebrate this special occasion, let’s embrace the spirit of the Sotogrande Anniversary, marking a year of growth, achievements, and memorable moments.

Sotogrande is entering its 60th anniversary in 2023, a significant moment and a time to reflect on our beloved home.

As we go into the sixth decade of Sotogrande certain thoughts and emotions will come to light.

The year 2022 will be remembered as the year we all hoped would be a relief from the Covid pandemic but a year that rapidly turned into a year of European war and the dreaded effects of inflation. ( See my previous article on property and inflation.)

Writing today I am delighted to say that Sotogrande weathered the storm very well.

We saw increased interest in young families wanting to move to Sotogrande to take advantage of our very good school: The Sotogrande International School.

The school is ranked as one of the best schools offering the “International Baccalaureate.” The school has around 1,400 alumni up from 690 eight years ago.

This new families are all looking for suitable home to live in and add to the rich tapestry of families in Sotogrande. These families come from all over the world

Online working, that was boosted by the pandemic, has increased the number of people wishing to make Sotogrande their home. The space and healthy living that we enjoy here is very attractive and beneficial.

As I write there are a number of new projects that local developers are planning. From new luxury apartments in the marina to assisted home living. These developers see the enormous potential Sotogrande has for all generations: from the young to the old and retired.

This year will be a year of both townhall elections and general elections. For us we hope that the May elections for the townhall of San Roque produce a Mayor who will actively support these new developments and help improve our local municipality.

As the year progresses Sotogrande SA , (the main developer of our area) will host various events to celebrate the 60th anniversary of our home. We look forward to these events with great anticipation!
