A Visionary Project with a Personal Touch
Back in 2004, as the Sales and Marketing Director for Sotogrande SA, I was part of a visionary team that set out to transform the Sotogrande Marina landscape. Our goal was ambitious yet clear: to create Ribera del Marlin, an unparalleled residential and commercial development that would redefine luxury living in the area. With a prime location and an extensive plot of approximately 3.5 hectares, the potential was immense. We aimed to build something truly special, combining upscale living with practical luxury, tailored to enhance the lifestyle of its residents.
Design and Development: Less Is More
Working with the esteemed Ramseyer Waisman architects in Madrid, we decided early on to focus on quality over quantity. Although we had the permission to construct up to 284 apartments and 50 shops, we chose a more exclusive route. The final plan included 194 high-end apartments and 41 carefully curated shops. This decision allowed us to maintain a sense of exclusivity and privacy, making each unit feel like a retreat from the bustling world outside.
Unmatched Amenities: Indoor Luxury Meets Outdoor Splendor
One of our crowning achievements at Ribera del Marlin was the introduction of the first—and possibly the last—indoor pool within the Sotogrande Marina apartment complexes. This feature, along with a jacuzzi, a steam room, and a well-equipped gym, was designed to offer year-round comfort and luxury. Outdoors, we created the largest pool areas in Sotogrande, complete with a lap pool, a gradual access pool for children and the elderly, and a toddler’s pool, all surrounded by lush gardens that provide both beauty and shade.

In crafting the apartments, every detail was considered to maximize comfort and aesthetics. The apartments featured large terraces, expansive windows, modern kitchens, and the latest in cooling and heating technology. Sizes varied, with two-bedroom apartments starting at 111m2, three-bedrooms at 161m2, and four-bedrooms at 204m2, each with significant terrace space. The penthouses included a “Solarium,” offering spectacular views, though we soon learned that the intense Andalusian sun made shaded areas more desirable.

Completed and handed over in autumn 2008, Ribera del Marlin quickly became one of the most sought-after addresses in Sotogrande.
