Polo Sotogrande 2026: Full Match Schedule — Every Game, Time & Field
Here’s the full Polo Sotogrande 2026 schedule — every match, every kick-off time, and every ground for this year’s Ayala Polo Club season.

Every summer for over twenty years, I’ve made my way down to Ayala Polo Club — which used to be known as Santa María Polo Club, back when the fields were the Los Pinos grounds — and every summer I’m reminded of the same thing: most people who haven’t experienced it have no idea how unusual Sotogrande polo really is.
The first time Open Frontiers sponsored the Bronze Cup was back in 2004, when the polo was still played inside Sotogrande itself, on the Río Fields, overlooked by the houses around it — which is also why the residential complex “El Polo” has the name it does, since it used to border those fields directly. Polo there felt more like a family gathering than a sporting event. That feeling has never really changed. Two decades later, I still go with the same instinct: meet friends, have a drink, catch up on the week — and if the match is a good one, everyone goes quiet and actually watches it. If it isn’t, it doesn’t matter, because it was never really about the score. It’s one of the best excuses in Sotogrande to get your favourite people in one place.
That’s the bit most first-time visitors don’t expect.

Why Sotogrande Polo Is Different From Anywhere Else
If you’ve watched polo elsewhere in the world — England, Argentina, the US — you’ll assume two things: that it’s an expensive, exclusive ticket, and that it’s a formal, dressed-up affair, closer in spirit to a day at the races than a casual afternoon out. In Sotogrande, neither is true.
- It’s free. Matches at Ayala Polo Club are open to the public at no cost — genuinely unusual for a tournament of this calibre anywhere in the world.
- It’s casual. The dress code is relaxed summer wear, not the upscale, dressed-to-be-seen formality you’d find at most international polo. You can spot the tourists from the locals almost instantly: the locals are the ones in shorts and espadrilles.
- It’s social first, sporting second. Locals treat it as a weekly meeting point as much as a match. Expect to have a drink and stay well beyond the final whistle — there are shops, bars, food trucks, and sometimes live bands on the grounds, so it’s often a full afternoon-into-evening thing rather than a quick match and home.
That combination — world-class polo, zero cost of entry, and a genuinely relaxed local crowd — is, as far as I know, not replicated anywhere else on the international polo calendar.
The 2026 Season: 55º Torneo Internacional de Polo
This year marks the 55th International Polo Tournament at Ayala Polo Club, running from Monday 27 July to Saturday 29 August 2026 — just over five weeks of polo across three parallel competitions, each at a different handicap level:

Matches are played across six fields at two clubs: Ayala (in San Enrique — grounds Ayala, Ayala 1, Ayala 3) and Los Pinos (by the Sotogrande marina, still listed on Google Maps under its former name, Santa María Polo Club — grounds Los Pinos 1 to 4). Both are a short drive from the marina and from Sotogrande Costa.

Where to Find Each Field

(As with any live sporting fixture, match order can shift — Ayala Polo Club flags this on their own schedule too, so treat times as the latest confirmed plan rather than fixed in stone. We’ll keep this page updated as the season progresses.)

Practical Tips for Attending
- It’s free and open to everyone — no tickets required for regular matches.
- Dress code: casual summer wear. Leave the blazer at home.
- Arrive a little early, especially for weekend and final matches, for parking and a good spot pitch-side.
- Check nearer the date for order-of-play changes — as noted on the official fixture, match order can shift.
Thinking About Property Near the Polo?
Every August I watch the same thing happen: someone comes to Sotogrande for a friend’s polo weekend, has exactly the afternoon I described above, and starts asking about property before the season is even over. It’s genuinely one of the best times of year to see Sotogrande at its most alive — and to understand why so many owners never leave.
If you’re thinking about buying near the fields: Sotogrande Costa and Kings & Queens put you within a few minutes of Ayala Polo Club and Los Pinos, while La Reserva and Sotogrande Alto offer more privacy with the same easy reach. Whichever it is, get in touch and I’m happy to talk through it — no pressure, just a local’s honest take.
For the fuller picture of the season — teams, the international crowd, where to stay — see our Polo Sotogrande 2026 season guide. For the very latest official fixture and any late changes, Ayala Polo Club is the definitive source.
